Getting more done, more quickly without compromising quality is key for Bob Miller Masonry in Sarasota, Florida. Specializing in structural concrete for custom residential homes, the company is known for its ability to tackle difficult layouts with accuracy and quality. The range of projects not only requires skill and precision, but also the ability to move quickly between jobs and different set-us at each job. Something crews are able to do with the help of an Elliott VersiPlacer.
“We use the VersiPlacer because of its versatility,” said Rod Miller, of Bob Miller Masonry. “Its volume control and speed lets us pump slabs at 120 yards per hour with a five-inch line and then slow it down to pump polysteel walls and beams in a two-inch line with a slow and steady flow.”
The VersiPlacer’s three-in-one functionality also allows the company to utilize the crane for lifting materials or add the man basket to move personnel – without calling in another piece of equipment. “Nothing else on the market matches that,” Miller said.
Features like the articulating jib boom allows concrete to be placed more precisely – so there’s not a lot of fall when pouring foam walls used in ICF (insulating concrete form) construction. VersiPlacer also eliminates the labor of dragging a hose around walls and scaffold. “It takes very little effort to control the end of the hose while pouring beams and ICF walls,” he said.
While VersiPlacer is not the only machine Miller uses, its small unfolding height lends itself to jobs where space is an issue. “It really gives us an advantage being in a tight space and still being able to unfold,” Miller said. “If we’re on the ground, we can change out, move to a new set-up and be back up in less than 10 minutes.” |
