“We saw VersiPlacer at the World of Concrete show in Las Vegas. I think we surprised them when we told them we wanted to buy it that quickly,” said Kevin Small of John Small Contracting in Sioux City, Iowa. He and his father, John, are the principals in the foundation and contract pumping business. The company purchased the first Elliott VersiPlacer in 2002.
“It’s an excellent machine. The service they have given us has addressed any problems we’ve had. I’d buy another one,” Small said. It’s maneuverability on the job site has made it an invaluable tool. For Small, it’s meant the ability to get into tight spots.
“The design is the smartest thing we’ve ever seen. Inside metal buildings, it’s a real plus. The jib rotates 360 degrees, so you can get around obstacles. Even working around high line wires, you don’t have to boom up and over to get the concrete where it needs to be, so there is less chance of arcing or something else going wrong. And crews like it because there is not much boom bounce,” he said. . “Time is money, so if you can pump it instead of wheel it or buggy it, the price of labor makes the VersiPlacer look cheap.”
What’s more, VersiPlacer offers a low cost of ownership. “Teaming up with Putzmeister makes it easy to get parts and it’s easy to clean,” Small said.
It also helps to improve satisfaction among Small’s clients. “After I’ve completed a job, clients always want me back. In fact, during peak times, we can’t handle any more clients than we have,” he said. “It’s one slick machine. They should have invented it 20 years ago.” |
